How long have you been spinning the decks for?
Funki J: I have been spinning for over eight years and scratching for 2 or 3 I cant remember now shows how old am getting.
SK: Been DJ'ing for about 4 years. Started of mixing mp3's on my computer and moved onto CDJ's and technics 1210's when I started playing out at private parties.
What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?
Funki J: anything that brings me close to music i love and DJing was something i knew i can start and keep at. back in the day money was a big issue I wanted to learn how to play instruments but that did not happen so i got my self a pair of decks!
SK: Well i originaly started off as an mp3 DJ and ever since then my love for music is constantly growing. I started DJ'in with a Roadshow group and kept at it ever since.
Your musical influences?
Funki J: every one and anything which has a musical element to it, is an influence to me, from the DJs it has to be DJ EZ just an amazing DJ his skills are unique.
SK: Anything that catched my attention really. There are many talented DJ's out there and I would have to agree with funki J in saying that DJ EZ is a great influence.
What type of music do you specialise in?
Funki J: I play UK Garage and House with some Ragga
SK: RnB, HipHop, Ragga
Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?
Funki J: ahhh now that would be telling lol! but i can tell you it was a 3 figure number !
What is your most treasured record and why?
Funki J: mine is paid in full ! got the orginal seal, pressing number from USA and i have never played it yet! thats why, its just kept locked away, i will play it the day i retire from DJing lol!
What clubnights have you played at?
Funki J: quite a few up London, i was playing at Corks wine bare for over 6 weeks and done a lot of one offs.
SK: Melenium Bar, Opium Lounge, and a few others. Mostly did private bookings for birthday parties and stuff.
What National / International club nights have you played at?
None at the moment but i know SK is making his way to India to drop a couple of sets! ill try jump into his suitcase !
music scene - what do you think about it?
Funki J: The UK is is just growing like mad! we have some talented peeps! cant wait for UK hip hop to really get in to the USA! and I love the undergound music we make!
What has been your coolest DJ night and why?
Funki J: skratching during a ragga set in corks wine bar the crowed just went mental! had to jack the tune up 3 times and cut over it again and again lol!
Have you got any DJing horror stories?
Funki J: yeah loads lol! i puked on my decks once at a party! to all my brother DJ's a word of advice keep a limit on what you drink! lol! SK: Luckily I have dont have any YET!
Where would be your ultimate DJing location - home and abroad?
Funki j: mine on a island with loads of hot chicks!!! nahh for real I love Djing in the UK but the club scene in New Delhi is just amazing cant wait to play a set there!
SK: I would have to say Delhi or Goa!
