How long have you been spinning the decks for?
Bought first record from a friend when i was 11, havent stopped since. got belt drives when i was about 14 then 1210's when i was 16 off a crackhead.
What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?
A lot of the reason was when i was growing up & listening to djs @ free parties and thinking how unnoriginal the sets were, the records had no variation and the djs took too long to mix. It was music for only one group of people and the people who were turning up were always mixed
Your musical influences?
Grew up moving around South America so i guess a lot of influence comes from there. my whole family is musical and i think in one way or another i'm into most styles of music, my dj motto has always been 'no rules to the rhythm'.
What type of music do you specialise in?
Kind of a mixture of funk breaks, break beats, hip hop instrumentals stirred in with a blend of soul vocals and rugged lyrics.
Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?
Probably Cheryl lynns single "got to be real' I bought when I was little for 15 quid. For albums I've paid more.
What is your most treasured record and why?
They're like my babies, i don't have a favourite.
What club nights have you played at?
Mostly free/squat parties (more room to experiment, kind of a musical no mans land - pardon the pun. Clubs have normally got a specific musical style associated with them that you're expected to follow. Used to help host a night where I used to live in Taunton, done sets in Foundry, Progress bar, Cubed,Trinity.. will update as I remember. Soon to be co-hosting a night in Harrow.chek back 4 info.
Music scene - what do you think about it?
Strange to say it considering the ammount of different styles but I think its slowly morphing together like mixing all the tints in a colour spectrum and ending up with white. maybe it's a good thing?
What has been your coolest DJ night and why?
Got to've been a squat party in Tufnell Park with about 400-500 people in an old abandoned church. -really took off that night, lifted the roof.
Have you got any DJing horror stories?
Headphones stopped working half way through a set once and i had to play the rest by ear. -by listening close to the needle you can just hear the beats ticking and it's possible to mix this way but it's impossible to hear the stylus hiss when you got a killer sound system behind u causing earthquakes in Australia.
Where would be your ultimate DJing location - home and abroad?
Home I reckon'd still be these squat parties Abroad would have to be La Paloma in Barcellona -wicked mix o live acts and dj sets.
What are your all time Top 5 tunes?
in Alphabetical (not preference) order it goes something like this.. Africa Shox -Leftfield E-Samba (2005 Breakz Rmx) Rollin n Controllin - Silencer She's gone - Resin Dogs Shit goes down -Ronny Jordan (Yea I kno)
