How long have you been spinning the decks for?
I have been DJing for 18 years now.
What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?
There were several reasons why i started DJing including love for the music, enjoying the aspect of being able to clash other sounds (boy's will be boy's:), and the challenge of being able to mix and blend tunes.
Your musical influences ?
My very first album was Michael Jackson "Bad". I remember asking my Mum to buy it for me went i was out shopping with her. I think i was around 8 or 9. I then started listening to Ragga and Hip Hop and i guess that had to do with the area and environment i grew up in. The West London Suburbs....
What type of music do you specialise in?
Old School Swing, Hip Hop, Raggae, Soul etc... But i also have a selection of Drum and Bass from the early 90's and some Garage from late 90's.
Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?
"I'm Raving I'm Raving" on the Shut up and Dance Label- Only 500 made on vinyl and this went into the top 10! Anyone can get it on CD or MP3.
What is your most treasured record and why?
I have so many i wouldn't like to upset another by selecting a single one. The vinyls are like ladies and you've got to enjoy the different qualities of each as they are.
What clubnights have you played at?
I used to do a residency at Equinox Club on Leicester Square as well as in the Wag Club and LimeLights back in 1994 to 1997. I started working and stopped playing out on the scene and became a Home DJ :(
What National / International clubnights have you played at?
None so far, but i am sure i will be....
What has been your coolest DJ night and why?
The coolest DJ's i ever saw were the Boogie Bunch. All three of the could DJ and MC really well and they used to tear up the place when they played.
Music scene - what do you think about it at the moment ?
The thing that suprises me is that even though there are new tunes being produced, its the old one or even remixes/covers of the old ones that still get people's attention.
Have you got any DJing horror stories?
Yes. Don't get drunk before you DJ. Tipsy is OK otherwise it all goes horrribly wrong. Enough said on that one....
Where would be your ultimate DJing location - home and abroad?
I am not too sure. I guess i would enjoy p[laying for any crowd that enjopyed my music and it didn't matter where that was. If i have to say then, I would say South America somewhere
Are you a resident DJ = if so where?
Not yet, but watch this space.
What are your all time Top 5 tunes?
1. "The Roof" - Mariah Careh and Mobb Deep
2. "Helicopter" - Moving Shadow Records
3. "1999" - DPR Records
4. "All I Need" - Mary J Blige and Method Man
5. "Boom sha a tack" - Born Jamericans#
Any big ups ?...
None for now.
